Knowledge Base connections and access
Configure release audience, HTML and MCP access, document policies, and approved consumers.
Where to find it
Choose Knowledge Bases in the main navigation, open the collection, and select Connections.
Address: /knowledge-bases/:id. Open the saved resource from the product rather than typing this address.
Configure the next release audience
In Connections > Next release audience, choose:
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Account only | Keeps delivery within the account's authorized access. |
| Selected connections | Serves approved consumers; there is no open browser HTML endpoint for this mode. |
| Anyone with the link | Allows public delivery of the published content. Review its documents and sensitivity before choosing it. |
The choice is saved for the next candidate. Validate and publish a new version to apply it; changing this field does not change the currently published audience. Review the endpoint's status and explanation rather than assuming copying its address grants access.
Approve a persistent connection
Choose Add connection, select the intended workspace, app, or supported agent consumer, and review its operations. Confirm the connection's live or next-release status. A pending change does not mean the current release grants the new operations. Revoke removes the intended binding; review other independent grants as well.
Use it for one chat message
Mention a published knowledge base with @ in chat to narrow that turn's context. This does not create a persistent connection.
Connect an external MCP client
Copy the MCP endpoint when available and follow the OAuth sign-in for that exact knowledge base. Access cannot be reused for another base. Restricted documents and their policy details remain hidden from external clients. Copying an endpoint does not approve another consumer or change the audience.
Document restrictions
Content can be allowed for every approved connection or restricted to selected connections. Those policies are part of the release. See Content before expecting a draft policy edit to change live retrieval.
Recovery
Check live publication, paused state, the exact consumer or OAuth resource, and document restrictions separately. Unpublished, paused, archived, revoked, and unauthorized access fail closed.
